Managed Endpoint Protection, Detection and Patching
Antivirus alone is not a complete business security plan. We help businesses keep track of their workstations, laptops and compatible servers, apply protection policies, prioritise software updates and investigate suspicious activity with the right licensed tools and support arrangements.
Protection, detection and response: what the terms mean
- Endpoint protection defends laptops, desktops and servers against malware, ransomware and common threats.
- Endpoint detection and response (EDR) records suspicious activity on a device so it can be investigated and contained, using supported detection and response tools where licensed.
- Managed detection and response (MDR) is an optional extra in which a specialist security operations team monitors alerts from supported endpoints around the clock and responds to confirmed threats, where it is included in your plan. That team is a specialist partner service, not Drakos staff.
24/7 monitoring is not the same as 24/7 Drakos helpdesk support. Response services, alert handling and support hours are set out in the scope you agree.
Patching deserves its own attention
Protection tools matter, but keeping systems and applications up to date closes many avoidable weaknesses. Our vulnerability and patch management finds outdated software and deploys updates for supported Windows and third-party applications, in an order that puts the most serious issues first and on a schedule that suits your working hours.
Some applications cannot be patched automatically. We flag those, and the devices that miss updates, so they can be dealt with rather than forgotten.
What we set up and manage
- Deployment of the protection agent across your devices, with checks that every device is actually covered.
- Protection policies matched to how your staff work, tested so they do not get in the way of business software.
- A device inventory, so you know what is protected and what is not.
- Alerts reviewed and escalated as agreed, with clear explanations rather than raw alert codes.
- Regular reporting on protection status, missing updates and anything that needs a decision from you.
Servers, email, identity and mobiles
Some businesses need more than workstation protection. These are separate options, scoped and quoted individually:
- Server protection with detection options suited to servers.
- Email security: additional inspection and filtering for malicious or suspicious email.
- Identity threat detection: monitoring for relevant identity risks in eligible environments.
- Mobile security for supported business smartphones and tablets. Features differ between iPhone and Android devices, and we explain those differences before you choose.
Choosing what is relevant
The right tools depend on your devices, your existing licences and the risks that matter to your business. Features depend on licensing, supported systems and configuration, so we confirm exactly what is included before anything is ordered. Threat prevention and monitoring reduce exposure, but no product or service can guarantee that every threat or incident is stopped.
How we get started
- Assess your devices, users, current protection and update status.
- Select the protection, patching and optional services that fit.
- Approve the scope, costs and minimum terms in writing.
- Deploy, test and document the agreed setup.
- Review regularly, with the reporting and changes you agreed.
Endpoint security also fits into our managed IT and security packages, where scope and price are confirmed at quote.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is antivirus enough for a business?
Usually not on its own. Antivirus helps, but businesses also need software updates kept current, a way to investigate suspicious activity, and someone checking that every device is covered. That is what managed endpoint security adds.
Can you replace our current antivirus?
Yes, in most cases. We plan the changeover so devices are not left unprotected, remove the old product cleanly and check each device afterwards.
Do you patch third-party applications as well as Windows?
Yes, for supported applications. Some software cannot be updated automatically, and we flag those so they can be updated manually.
Does managed detection and response mean someone is watching 24/7?
With the optional MDR service, a specialist security operations team monitors alerts from supported endpoints around the clock, where it is included in your plan. It is a partner service, and it is not the same as 24/7 Drakos helpdesk support.
Will security software slow our computers down?
Modern endpoint agents are designed to be light, but every agent uses some resources. We check compatibility with your business software and test policies before a full rollout.
What happens when a threat is found?
That depends on the agreed scope. Typically the threat is blocked or the device isolated, the alert is reviewed, and you are told what happened and what, if anything, you need to do.
