Cloud phone systems that let your team make and receive business calls from any location, on any device, using your business number
If your staff work from home, between sites or on the road, they still need to answer business calls professionally. A cloud phone system gives every user a softphone, a mobile app, or both, so calls to your business number ring wherever they are.
The system does not care whether someone is at a desk in Belfast, working from home in Lisburn, or visiting a client in Derry. The caller dials one number and reaches the right person.
This page is about implementing and supporting remote and hybrid working for a Northern Ireland business: designing the setup, configuring the apps and routing, porting your numbers and providing local support. If you are still weighing up the options and want to compare platforms and typical costs first, our guide to remote worker phone systems covers the background, and the broader business phone systems and VoIP page covers the full system.
Your business phone system runs in the cloud rather than on hardware in a server room. Each user gets a login that works on their softphone, mobile app, or desk phone. Calls route through the system regardless of where the user is connected from.
When a customer calls your main number, the system routes the call according to the rules you set: ring a team simultaneously, ring in sequence, route by department, or route by time of day. The first person to answer takes the call. If nobody answers, it follows your fallback rules (voicemail, another team, divert to mobile).
Outbound calls from any device show your business number on the recipient's caller ID. Call recording, reporting and routing all work identically whether the user is in the office or at home.
VoIP call quality depends on a stable internet connection. Each concurrent call uses approximately 100 Kbps of bandwidth with low latency and minimal jitter. For most home broadband connections this is not an issue, but we review the connection before deployment to confirm suitability.
For office environments, we configure Quality of Service (QoS) on the router to prioritise voice traffic. For home workers on shared broadband, we advise on router settings and can supply a preconfigured router where appropriate.
If broadband reliability is a concern, a 4G/5G failover router keeps calls running during outages.
Remote VoIP support is available across Northern Ireland, Ireland and the UK. User configuration, call routing, mobile apps, softphones and most changes are handled remotely.
Physical installation (desk phone setup, router QoS configuration, data cabling and onsite troubleshooting) covers Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland.
We can post preconfigured phones and routers to businesses anywhere in the UK or Ireland.
Tell us how many users you have, where they work, and what is not working with your current setup. We will recommend the right system and provide a clear quotation.
